How To Build Your Opt-In List With eBay Auctions
One of the keys to Internet busines success is to build a list of targeted subscribers who you can plug into your autoresponder and market to via a newsletter.

Did you know that eBay offers a highly effective, but little used, method of building your list? Most eBay sellers are not aware of the technique, or do not bother to take advantage of it. However, some Powersellers use to it over and over again, one auction at a time as a way to build their lists and increase their profits.

Many powersellers use eBay as an excellent resource not only to sell products, but also to establish niche markets. EBay offers sellers a marketplace where customers come willing and even eager to spend money, not simply to browse websites.

So how do Powersellers, and how can you, take advantage of this?

  1. Set up a niche site offer cheap items for auction in that niche.

  2. Make an eBay "About Me" page and add some articles and information about the niche market. Add some information about your website and a link with some sort of incentive to encourage your visitors to click through.

  3. Set up a landing page on your website designed for your ebay visitors. Include a sign-up form for your newsletter and a big incentive for the visitors to join. (This can be the same incentive that you mentioned on your "About Me" page.

  4. In the body of the auction description invite your visitors to visit About Me. You can add all your shipping details to a section of the About Me page an use that to draw visitors.

  5. Follow up EVERY bidder (losers as well as winners) with a message thanking them for participating. Invite them to visit your About Me page or website. Make sure you keep abreast of eBay's Terms Of Service and keep within them when contactin your bidders.

    Ideally, you should aim to make a little money or at least cover your costs, BUT the real aim of this operation is to build your list. If you cover your costs AND build your list you are getting great value for money compared to the cost of getting leads via Adwords or other PPC methods. AND you know that your eBay leads are people who are WILLING TO SPEND MONEY!
