How To Build Your List With Dan Thompson’s Boomerang List Builder
Once you have an ebook and have locked it using Dan Thompson’s Boomerang List Builder, which I reviewed here, you will want to get it in front of as many people as possible to get them onto your list.
So here’s a great little technique that you can use.
- Upload the ebook to your webhost. Check that the link works and save the URL for later reference.
- Go to Upload.com and sign up for a free account. Upload.com is a popular software directory that lists 35,000 other products lists and attracts over 38 million users each month, according to the blurb on their website.
- Once your account has been activated, upload your locked ebook product and complete the form with your product details, product title and so on.
- The ebook will be converted into an executable file.
- Now write a short description of no more than 100 characters.
- Write a longer description and add a contents list and some extracts from the book in the field below.
- List the book under the “ebooks” category.
- Add the URL of your website or sales page etc.
- Add the product download URL (which you saved in step 1).
- Right click on the product, check properties and enter the file size into the appropriate field and add the filename if you wish.
- Now add your registration code number
- Choose your license type. For this project the ebook is a freebie, so set the price to zero.
- Upload a screenshot of the ebook cover.
- Select the free listing option. It usually takes 5 days for your ebook to be published.
That’s it! You don’t have to do anything else. People will visit Cnet’s other site, http://download.cnet.com and if they like your product, they will download it… and join your list!
To make this technique work, you first need to lock your ebook using Dan Thompson’s Boomerang List Builder, which I reviewed here.

One of the biggest problems Internet marketers have is getting prospects to join their mailing list.
The most common approach to list building is to offer a free report which is delivered to subscribers right after they have completed the opt in form.
However, a lot of people will be reluctant to type their name and e-mail address into the sign-up box, even is they are interested in your offer.
So how can Internet marketers get over that resistance on the part of their website visitors?
One way is to delay the moment when you ask for your prospect’s email address. Instead of asking for their email address at the beginning of the process, ask for it at a time when they will be more engaged with the process of accessing the product. Dan Thompson’s Boomerang List Builder has been designed to enable you to do just that.
Here’s a video that explains how it works:

With the Boomerang List Builder, you can invite your website visitors to download a free e-book or report via a link on the web page. The subscriber is then directed to the download page and will be invited to provide a download password in order to “open” the e-book. Clients who haven’t got the password are invited to click a link which opens a password access form where they give their e-mail address so that the password can be delivered to their inbox.
The process of accessing a password offers the prospect a genuine reason for giving up his or her e-mail address.
The Boomerang List Builder is easy to use, but Mac users should note that it will only work with Windows Vista, Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional.
