Could the age of the viable free website be upon us?
Are you looking for a free website that looks good, has no annoying ads on it and has a back office suite that is beautiful to work with?
I think you might like the look of http://www.weebly.com/
I have just been playing with it and feel like a boy in a sweetshop!
The site cleanly designed, with a fresh appearance and a nice layout that makes it very easy to work with.
It also comes with a lot of cool features.
Want to add a new paragraph with a photo top left? Just drag and drop the appropriate icon into place. Want to work with HTML, you can if you like, but you don't have to.
At the top of the page a series of tabs lead you to the various building blocks to help you construct your website. The tabs are:
Elements
Designs
Pages
Settings
Elements is sub-divided into
Basics
Multimedia
Revenue (Google Adsense)
More.
You can keep your website completely free by having weebly host it:
http://www.MYFREESITE.weebly.com
Or you can buy a domain name and point it at your website.
There are no annoying ads on your site, EXCEPT for a Weebly footer.
You can easily add Google Adsense and share the revenue 50%-50% with Weebly.
There are upgrade options.
When you log back in, your current sites are easy to find, plus there is a clear "To Do List" to take you through your website building tasks.
Right now they are beta testing a set of features that allows any Weebly user to customize their theme, and are looking for users who know a bit of HTML/CSS and would be willing to spend a little time to test out the new features.
This resource seems idealy suited for testing out niche sites... 8)
But note, you can build a maximum of TWO free websites. After that you have to pay - but the rates are very good, AND you can pay by PayPal - always a good option as far as I'm concerned.
6 Months = $4.58/month 1 Year = $3.99/month 2 Years = $2.99/month
One you start paying you can have up to 10 websites per account and get some extra features thrown in too, such as:
Password-protected pages
Remove or Customize Weebly footer
100 MB file uploads
Audio player
Premium Support
So is Weebly reliable, can you expect 99.5% uptime?
I don't know. They suffered a major outage in June 2008, when three, or possibly even FOUR of the Seagate hard-drives on the storage system busted. But "drastic measures" (like replacing all 15 of their hard-drives) were taken "to make sure this never happens again".
Since Weebly's stated aim is to be the most reliable and best free web site creation service on the Internet, let's hope they have better luck with their new storage system.
Verdict: Worth trying for small narrowly focused niche websites, or fun sites...
Question: Does the free version of Weebly do anything that a free blog platform could not do as well or better?
The Plug In Profit Site comes with some valuable perks and bonuses which are not mentioned on the sales page.
One of the biggest bonuses is the number of online friends you make, people who are by any normal standards your main competition, but who actually are very friendly and willing to share their knowledge to help you succeed with your own Plug In Profit Site business.
The competitions come with nice prizes which various generous PIPS members donate.
Just recently, a PIPS member organized a Pips Blog Contest, which was won by Leon Bowes, who runs http://www.honestlyfreehomebiz.com , a website dedicated to helping work-from-home Christian Internet marketers.
Leon's prize was a series of 4 x 45 minute one-on-one FREE professional coaching sessions donated by fellow PIPS member, Ros Bott, who runs http://www.career-life-coach.com.
Here is Leon's feedback about Ros's coaching sessions:
"Ros and I finished our final session yesterday and I am simply amazed at the help and guidance she provided me in only 4 sessions. She did not cut any corners just because this was a prize winning. I think most of us have trouble with setting and monitoring our goals. Ros is a complete professional at what she does and was able to suggest and teach me techniques to accomplish this.
"If anyone is struggling with goal setting and/or monitoring, they need to contact Ros. You will not be sorry.
"Anyway, an awesome prize by an awesome lady and coach. I have an advantage over most as I have experienced her coaching 1st handed and know when I spend the money in the future for more sessions, it will be money well spent.
"Thanks,
"Leon
"P.S. Ros's resume includes other areas of career coaching as well. This just happened to be the area I wanted to concentrate on during our sessions."
Ros's coaching services can be conducted by telephone, by email or instant messaging so it doesn't matter where in the world you live, and the first session is FREE, so you risk nothing by trying Ros's service!
As a student of Success University, I spent a lot of my time last year thinking about "the principles of success"... Meanwhile, one of the biggest "success stories" of our time was being played out... There is today no greater exemplar of "success mentality" than the man who is about to be inaugurated as America's first black president.
But how, exactly, did Obama do it?
Political analyst, Earl Ofari Hutchinson, has the answer in his new book, launched today, and appropriately titled, How Obama Won.
How Obama Won unravels the key issues, the big events, the process behind the politicing, the pressures and controversies that affected Obama's presidential campaign.
Hutchinson reveals how Barack Obama responded to the challenges he faced on his historic journey to the White House through the ups and downs of the 2008 presidential campaign.
Here are some of the questions that How Obama Won addresses:
What impact did race and gender have on the campaign? What was the thinking behind the campaign strategy? Who were the key players behind the campaign? How have the Democratic and Republicans parties changed?
What impact did blacks, whites, Hispanics, women, young people, blue collar workers have on the result? What was the role of corporate and special interests in the election?
And, finally, what does the result mean to America and the world?
In How Obama Won Hutchinson explains that "race" was not such a key factor in Obama's victory and the war in Iraq and terrorism were not the most prominent concerns of the voters.
What struck me as clever about Obama's "Change is coming to America" message was that merely by winning the election Obama had indeed "changed America" - even if his policies do not actually bring fundamental change to American society... Now we know that a black candidate can become president; in that sense everything has changed (and nothing has changed).
Earl Ofari Hutchinson believes that Obama's honeymoon could be very short lived.
The massive problems he faces with the recession, the financial crisis, conflict in Iraq and Afghanistan are compounded by the high hopes he has whipped up among the American public for "change"...
In How Obama Won Hutchinson explains what Obama needs to do in order to avoid massive disappointment.
How Obama Won is available in both book and e-book form. Find out more, and listen to Nikki Leigh chat with Earl Ofari Hutchinson about the book here:

On Monday 5th January 2009 Strong Future International went live with "SFI 3.0" and its new flagship online store TripleClicks.com
SFI 3.0 is the biggest project that SFI has undertaken since the company was founded ten years ago.
TripleClicks is free to join and you'll be able to earn residual income on sales made by people you introduce to the site, with earnings of 15%-35% of the Commission Volume plus up to 12% Executive Override on the Commission Volume of every sale generated by affiliates who you personally sponsor. Nice!
Another attractive feature of the site is that you can sell your own gear on it for as little as 19cents per listing (if you buy 250 listing credits). Even if you only buy one credit it will only cost you $1.99 to list your item.
Anyway I have just set up a blog to explain the TripleClicks project and outline its benefits, at:
