While you may need to write a few extra articles now when compared to a few years ago, not many.

Many people said that they had only 5 or 10 articles that brought in all of their affiliate commissions for a product, however this doesn’t mean that they only wrote 5 or 10 articles. You never know which articles are going to be successful which is why you write a large number of them.

Another myth that still surrounding article marketing strategies is that you need to submit your article to hundreds of directories. In reality, you will find that the niche that you are focusing on will only create conversions in a handful of article directories. After your first 5 or 10 articles and a few weeks, it will be easy to see which directories are the most effective. Then you can focus more of your time on writing and submitting articles instead of submitting them to directories that will not create any conversions. The only reason that you might need to submit your articles in an excessive amount of directories is if you are trying to use them to gain backlinks rather than targeted traffic.

A third myth about article marketing is that it is solely a numbers game. Some people will tell you that as long as you write X number of articles and submit them to X number of directories that you will be successful. In reality, sound article marketing strategy is more about quality than quantity. Of course, the more articles you write, the better your article marketing results will be. However, volume at the expense of quality is a terrible trade. If your articles are not useful or engaging, they will not create conversions because no one will read them all the way through.
