Six Types Of Affiliate Marketing Program

There are hundreds and thousands of affiliate marketing programs for products and services on the Internet today. Some use a network marketing model and you usually have to pay to join them. Others are free to join and simply pay out a commission on products or services you sell, or on the leads that you introduce to the company.

Another model offers a two-tier payment structure in which you receive commissions on your sales, and also smaller commissions on the sales made by those whom you introduce to the affiliate program.

Then there are programs that pay out "residual income" - in other words, you get paid commission month after month for as long as the person you introduced to the company remains a paid up member.

In the table below I have set out five of the most common types of online affiliate marketing programs and provided each type with one of the leading examples of such a business. They are all businesses that I am actively involved in or whose products and services I use.

1. Pay Per Click Programs. PPC programs allow you to earn money every time someone clicks on an ad that you place on your website or blog. PPC programs are free to join and easy to run. I recommend Google Adsense.
2. Leads Selling. You join a merchant affiliate program and place banners or text link ads on your site that lead to a lead capture form like this. Each time someone signs up to the program and confirms their membership, you earn a commission. I recommend SFIPPA, which markets one of SFI's lead generation programs. All you need to do to get started is join SFI (FREE sign-up). Once you have signed up you will find information in your affiliate center about how to earn money by generating leads with the SFIPPA system and earn up to $11 for each qualified sign-up.
3. Selling Affiliate Products. You can sell physical products or downloadable products and earn commissions on every sale. You won't need to carry stock because the merchant will look after the shipping and handling side. If you are selling online information or resources, the customer will be directed to a download link supplied by the affiliate company. There is a huge amount of choice. Whatever you choose to sell, I recommend that you offer related products from Amazon.com as well.
4. Two tier affiliate marketing. This is where you earn money on the sales of affiliates that you recruit. Many affiliate companies offer two-tier commissions. A program such as Worldwidebrands offers professional affiliate support, an excellent product. WorldWideBrands pays commissions of 25% on the first tier and 10% on the second of its two tiers. 5. Residual Income Programs. Residual income affiliate programs offer a great way for you to receive commission month after month on membership subscriptions. If you are interested in selling article marketing services to Internet marketers, SubmitYourArticle offers an excellent residual income affiliate program. If you are keen to build your own online network marketing business, with a downline several tiers deep, you will want to find a business that has been around for more than just a couple of years, and which pays out on new sponsorships and residually as well.
